Introducing the Indiana Spay/Neuter Alliance Steering Commitee!
The Indiana Spay/Neuter Alliance wishes to present to you the founding of our Steering Commitee. This commitee is comprised of animal welfare representatives from across Indiana who have shown an amazing drive and dedication to spay/netuer. The objectives of the formation of the steering committee are:
Ø To provide a connection to each steering committee member’s respective regions. This will help us in identifying other organizations that may be available to help with spay/neuter services or subsidies and to reduce the chances of duplication of services.
Ø To lend credence to ISNA. By identifying individuals who are known for their work and passionate about the tragedy caused by pet overpopulation, the ISNA can lean on the credentials of those who are respected throughout the state.
Ø Provide input with respect to funding programs and subsidies throughout the state.
Ø Create a sense of community whereby steering committee members take “ownership” in their respective regions to ensure the spay/neuter needs of its area is being addressed adequately.
Kathi Daniels, Independent Spay/Neuter Development Consultant. Kathi Daniels has been an advocate in animal welfare for over 18 years, working on both the local and national level. She has served as Executive Director at the Humane Society of Calumet, regional program manager for Humane Strategies, and most recently consulting with NAWS in Chicago to open the region's first low-cost spay/neuter-wellness clinic. Ms. Daniels is also the founder of the Indiana Association of Animal Control and Welfare Organizations. Her work has been recognized nationally, and her passion for the cause of homeless animals has helped many animal welfare organizations. She currently resides in Illinois and consults with organizations on their volunteer and development programs.
Ellen Robinson, Executive Director of the FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic. Ellen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management. Prior to joining FACE, Ellen spent 10 years in the field of human resource management. She began her career with Hyatt Hotels in Chicago and Indianapolis and then spent four years working in human resource management in the healthcare industry. Ms. Robinson joined FACE in the final two years of its initial fundraising campaign. She was hired by FACE in 1998 to open the clinic. From 1998 to February of 1999, she purchased the equipment and supplies and hired and trained staff for the clinic’s opening in March of 1999. Since the clinic opened, Ms. Robinson has been intimately involved with its daily operations. Together with FACE’s board of directors, she established a high standard for patient care through stringent protocols and guidelines, and quality customer service. In 2009 alone over 9,000 spay/neuter surgeries have been performed, bringing FACE's successful spay/neuter surgery count to nearly 112,000 since opening its doors in 1999.

Mary Schons is proud to be a member of the Indiana Spay Neuter Alliance. She is the founder and current president of Calumet SNAP: The Spay/Neuter Assistance Program of Northwest Indiana, Inc. The mission of Calumet SNAP is to help low-income Northwest Indiana residents get their pets spayed and neutered safely and affordably, with the goal of ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals through the ready availability of low-cost spay/neuter. She got involved with spay/neuter activism when, after looking for low-cost spay/neuter assistance programs in Northwest Indiana and not finding any, she decided to start one herself. Since founding Calumet SNAP she has found many wonderful and caring animal guardians who share her goal of ending pet overpopulation. Mary is a full-time reference librarian at the Hammond Public Library and a contributing writer to National Geographic Expeditions and the Unabashed Librarian. She lives very happily in Northwest Indiana with Casey, her 15 year-old camera-shy calico

While at the White River Humane Society she established many programs including neuter before adoption, spay/neuter assistance for residents, and spay/neuter transport with petsalive. Her passion has been spay/neuter since beginning her career with the White River Humane Society and realizing the extent of pet overpopulation in Indiana. She now has joined the petsalive team in hopes of assisting a much larger region to have access to affordable spay/neuter services
Melissa Stevenson, Secretary/Treasurer of HOPE for Animals is employed by Parkview Health System as a Financial Operations Analyst for their three Fort Wayne hospitals.
